Dr Yuto Shimamura
Dr Yuto Shimamura is an interventional endoscopist and Clinical Lead in luminal and third space endoscopy at Austin Health in Melbourne, Australia. He also serves as a Clinical Associate Professor (Honorary) at the University of Melbourne. He completed his gastroenterology residency at St. Luke’s International Hospital in Tokyo, followed by advanced fellowship training at St. Michael’s Hospital, University of Toronto. Prior to his current role, he was an Assistant Professor at Showa University Koto Toyosu Hospital, a globally recognized digestive disease center. Internationally recognized in advanced endoscopic resection and third-space endoscopy, he specializes in procedures such as endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) and per-oral endoscopic myotomy (POEM), including its derivatives, as well as endoscopic full-thickness resection and endoscopic treatment for GERD. He is a frequent international speaker and trainer, with over 100 peer-reviewed publications and numerous awards for his contributions to therapeutic endoscopy.
