Emeritus Professor of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, University of Queensland. Upper Gastro-intestinal and Soft Tissue Unit, Princess Alexandra Hospital. Chair, Oesophago-Gastric subcommittee, Cancer Alliance Queensland. Fellow of the American Surgical Association. Past President, Australia and New Zealand Gastric and Oesophageal Surgeons Association. Previously served on committees, International Society for Disease of Esophagus and International Gastric Cancer Association. Active clinical research into outcomes from surgery for oesophago-gastric cancer (O-G) as well as surgical lead in in Phase II/III trials assessing perioperative treatment for O-G cancer. Author on more than 250 peer-reviewed publications, and 10 book chapters. National and international journal editorial boards: Aust NZ Journal of Surgery, World Journal of Surgery and British Journal of Surgery. Multiple presentations to national and international conferences. Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to medicine, in the fields of gastro-intestinal and melanoma surgery, to medical education and to professional organizations.
