A/Prof David G. Hewett
David is a gastroenterologist at Colonoscopy Clinic and Associate Professor at The University of Queensland.
After graduating with honours from UQ, he undertook clinical and research training at the RBWH, before completing a post-doctoral fellowship in advanced colonoscopy with Professor Douglas Rex at Indiana University.
David seeks to lead global colonoscopy practice and make it accessible by increasing engagement in colonoscopy training across the Asia-Pacific region. His clinical interests include colorectal cancer screening and the technical performance of colonoscopy, including detection, advanced imaging and resection, and endoscopic training. He has published widely on new colonoscopic techniques, technologies and methods of training.
David is active internationally in colorectal cancer policy and training initiatives. He is a member of advisory/editorial boards for the Australian Government Bowel Cancer Screening Program and the Journal of the Anus, Rectum and Colon. He was recently re-elected to the incoming board of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia.
