Prof Andrew Metz

Prof Andrew Metz is a gastroenterologist and interventional endoscopist and Head of Endoscopy at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, having been previously Head of Endoscopy at Cambridge University Hospital in the UK. He is also Director of the Jreissati Pancreatic Centre, leading this centre of excellence in research, clinical care and patient experience for people with pancreatic cancer. He is on Council of the Australasian Pancreatic Club and on the International Association of Pancreatology scientific committee.

His main research interests are the screening and early detection in pancreatic cancer, including the APRISE national pancreatic screening program, investigator led multi-centre drug RCTs and novel endoscopic devices for diagnostics and therapeutics, including confocal endomicroscopy, and EUS-RFA. He is CI for multiple national and international studies.
