Dr Alice Day
Dr Alice Day is an Advanced Gastroenterology Research Dietitian with the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Translational Research Group at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (TQEH) & Basil Hetzel Institute in Adelaide, South Australia and holds an adjunct role as a Senior IBD dietitian. Alice completed her PhD on food-related quality of life and therapeutic dietary interventions for ulcerative colitis at The University of Adelaide and now co-leads the diet research stream within her IBD group’s broader microbial manipulation research program. The core focus of TQEH IBD research program is to investigate interventional approaches to manipulate the gut microbiome for therapeutic effect, in particular dietary therapies and faecal microbiota transplantation. Alice recently completed randomised placebo-controlled trial investigating a sulphur-reducing diet as therapy for ulcerative colitis. In her clinical role Alice’s group are exploring new models of care for integrating diet into IBD and gastroenterology clinics.
